This Cookie Policy explains how TScribe uses cookies and similar browser-based storage on the tscribe.app website and application. We keep our use of these technologies minimal and purposeful.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit, such as your preferred settings. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB, which are browser-based storage mechanisms rather than cookies sent over HTTP.

2. Cookies we use

TScribe uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies and no advertising or tracking cookies.

  • Session cookie: Used to keep you authenticated during a logged-in session. Expires when you close the browser or log out. This cookie is essential for the service to function.
  • CSRF token: A security token that protects form submissions from cross-site request forgery. Strictly necessary.
  • Anonymous analytics: If we use a self-hosted analytics service, it may set a cookie containing a random anonymous identifier to distinguish unique sessions. This identifier is not linked to your account or any personal data.

3. localStorage

TScribe uses your browser's localStorage to persist your theme preference (dark or light mode). This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers. The key used is tscribe-theme. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

4. Third-party cookies

We do not embed advertising networks, social media pixels, or third-party tracking scripts on any TScribe page. Google Fonts is loaded via a standard link tag; Google may set a cookie at fonts.gstatic.com. If this concerns you, you can block it at the browser level without affecting TScribe's core functionality, as the font will fall back to system-ui.

5. Your choices

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking session cookies will prevent login from working. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect the core functionality of TScribe. Instructions for managing cookies are available in your browser's help documentation.
